# Split documents & store/retrieve data

Hi,  
I'm saving time-based stats into ES index. I know that we can split index on a daily/weekly basis. However i need to know if the same is possible with documents. In short i want to know if i can split & save the documents on a daily basis so that searching gets faster.. Any help is greatly appreciated.
