# Support of RHEL/CentOS 8.x

Hi
Is the stack already supported on CentOS 8? The support matrix only shows 6 and 7. The lastests info I could find was from May'19: [Elastic Stack @ RHEL / CentOS 8?](https://discuss.elastic.co/t/elastic-stack-rhel-centos-8/182862)
We're deploying a new environment from scratch right now, so I'd like to start with some current version.

CentOS 8 is [not currently supported](https://www.elastic.co/support/matrix); it's not even in the list of distributions that we're currently [testing in CI](https://elasticsearch-ci.elastic.co/job/elastic+elasticsearch+master+multijob-unix-compatibility/), which is normally a prerequisite for adding things to the support matrix.
That's not to say that I know of any issues with running Elasticsearch on CentOS 8.
