# Synonyms Limit plans

Hey there,
first off thank your for providing this great piece of software, it is a breeze to work with and takes so much work off our shoulders!
I have already read that the Synonyms are limited to 255 items and there is no way to get around that.
Still i would like to ask whether there are any plans of taking off that limit.
We are currently self-hosted, but are willing to go Pro as this is an important feature for us.

Hi @uklft,
There are plans to make this configurable in the self-managed version of App Search. I don't know whether or not that will apply to the SaaS version of App Search or not, which it sounds like you are using.
How many synonym sets do you need?

Hello Jason,
Our minimum would be 5000 Synonym sets, although we would like to generate up to 30k.
Would it affect the performance too bad having so many synonyms?
And is there a timetable for the feature to make it configurable?

I frankly don't know what impact it would have on performance.
I don't think we have a timetable to share with you, but I can say we are actively working on it.
