I'm trying to monitor applications that don't have plugins built for them yet (MSSQL, etc.). I don't need to know the contents but just starting with the count would be great. I was hoping to use TCP as the protocol in the packetbeat.yml config file with the port listed but that doesn't seem to be working.

Is this a thing that can be done? Or am I doing something that doesn't make sense?

Thanks,
Pat

Unfortunately collecting metrics from ip/tcp/udp network layers is not supported yet. Although a feature I'd love to see. I thought we've got an enhancement request, but can not find any. Feel free to [add your own enhancement request](https://github.com/elastic/packetbeat/issues). We'd be very happy about pull requests too 😉

Thanks steffen! If I have time coming up I'll build it. When I looked at this at first it looked like it was going to be more then the 20 minutes I had to get it running.
