# Template with asterisk name

Got an ELK stack with template name \*. I have created new index template with normal name, but how can I delete an index template with asterisk name?

There is no good workaround for this, except deleting all and recreating all but the one `*` template. Elasticsearch should probably prevent that case by not allowing to store such a template. Let's see if I can come up with a PR.

This template was uploaded by logstash settings:

```auto
    template => "/etc/logstash/template/hotwarm.json"
    template_name => "*"

```

And elasticsearch allowed it 🤔
