I would recommend going to 8.18 instead of 8.17. The [official upgrade documentation](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/8.18/setup-upgrade.html) contains a lot of guidance and recommendations. Is there anything missing there?

Many thanks Christian for your recommendation, I`m wondering the Upgrade Assistant tells me that I should go up to 8.0.1, is it advisable to go up to 8.18 directly from 7.17.28? I must consider something in particular with the security layer, with the current digital certificates, I will need to regenerate these certificates for version 8.\*

Once you have addressed all potential issue identified by the migration assistant in 7.17 I believe you should go directly to 8.18. When I have upgraded I have never gone via 8.0 (apart from when that was the latest version).
