# @timestamp filter missing in Kibana time filter field

# Kibana 6.8.12 management

Logs are ingested using curl

curl -v -XPOST '[http://localhost:9200/missing1/\_doc/\_bulk?pretty](http://localhost:9200/missing1/_doc/_bulk?pretty)' -H 'Content-Type: application/json' --data-binary @missing

Why is @timestamp missing in the list of time filter field while creating the index pattern?  
How can it be added so that visualization can be done properly?

Do you have a `@timestamp` field in your document?

Elasticsearch does not create a `@timestamp` field, you will only have this field if it exists in your document or you send your logs to logstash before sending to elasticsearch, logstash adds a `@timestamp` field to the documents.
