# TLS security in Elasticsearch

Hello Team,

Can we use TLS feature for secure communication in cluster for basic license version or we need to purchase gold or platinum license to use this feature?

The default distribution of Elasticsearch includes all of X-Pack, but the default license is "basic".

You can activate a free trial of the commercial features via Kibana (Management -\> License) or via [the API](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elastic-stack-overview/6.3/license-management.html).

Hello David,

Thank you for your response.

I have already go threw the subscription link. I saw that encrypted communication feature is not available in basic license version. I want to use encryption for my production so can't use trial version (30 days).

So i am asking again if i want use encrypted communication for my cluster i need to purchase Gold or Platinum license? Is it true?

Or you can use [cloud.elastic.co](http://cloud.elastic.co) service as well.
