Hi,
I have a cluster of 7 ES servers
i am using it to hold the system servers config and for monitoring (with
logstash and kibana)
Three days ago, we started to see something strange. for the same request
(id), we get different results.
it looks like there are two objects in the system and the result is a
round-robin between them
i have checked and both answers has the same version

1.

Hi Itamar,

the cluster seams ok:

cluster health: green (9, 12)

also, i can see all the nodes and only one master.

Hi Itamar

I work with Tal and we have a 2 data directories in the elasticsearch.yml
configuration file.
The exact line is :
path.data: /var/lib/elasticsearch,/var/lib/elasticsearch2

Some of the servers in the cluster contain sub folders in the
/var/lib/elasticsearch2 directory and some don't.
The ones that don't I'm guessing, never contained a shard in the folder.

Could this contribute to the problem we're having?

Daniel,

Do you use custom routing? Do you change to async replication?

Cheers,
Boaz

Hi Boaz,

No custom routing.
We use the default replication method implemented in version 0.90.11

The \*"gidentifier": "cl2s\_02" \*from Tals original post, is a couple of days
old. So it should have already replicated to all shards in the cluster.

I believe this to be the culprit, yes (and thus - a bug in Elasticsearch).

The question of subfolders you may or may not have under each is simply a
question of how elasticsearch decided to split the data between the folders.

Is the only difference you are seeing between docs is this one field
existing/missing? I'd try and characterize this and perhaps figure out a
way to create minimal repro the ES team can run. Also, I'd hope there's a
way to merge multiple data folders into one so you could try that and see
if it indeed the cause for this problem

Cheers,
