# Type in 6.2.1

As the type is being taken out in the next major release of the elasticsearch, why the doc type needs to be used in 6.2.1. I am not able to use the index template without using the doc type which is not useful for the project.

`doc` is just an example, you can use any name currently, but a newly created index can only have one type
