This seems to be more of [general problem](https://stackoverflow.com/questions/6865538/solving-a-communications-link-failure-with-jdbc-and-mysql) between jdbc client mysql server . Are you able to connect to your mysql at first place ? `mysql --host localhost --port 3306 --user admin --password` ---
