# Unable to find index from logstash config in kibana while creating a new index pattern

Kibana doesn't check the logstash config, it checks the connected Elasticsearch cluster. So for Kibana to pick up the index you need to actually run logstash successfully so the index is actually created (also make sure it's visible for the currently logged in user based on permissions)
