# Unclear documentation for xpack....flush\_interval

The latest docs [https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/x-pack/current/auditing.html](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/x-pack/current/auditing.html)  
for the options of xpack I want to set a value for `xpack.security.audit.index.flush_interval`

but is it milliseconds, seconds or a string like '4s' this is not clear from the doc

Indeed, this is not clear. The settings accepts a `TimeValue` something like `1s` (which is also the default).

It would be great if you either filed an issue in the elasticsearch repo or even better a pull request that mentions this.
