# Understanding snapshot while deleting documents

Hi there,

I am working on creating backup and deleting the corresponding data from my index, so as to have a backup and save disk space. Plan to do this on a daily or weekly basis. However, it seems the snapshots created are saving deleted changes as well.Could someone please help me understand?
