# Update template and force rollover

Hi All,

Is it possible after applying a new template to ILM (with rollover every x GB or y days) managed indices, to force rollover?

Could I use the rollover API in order to create new indices which will follow the changes in the template (e.g. different number of shards)?

I just want to expedite the rollover process which will normally be applied by the ILM policy.  
The indices should continue following what the ILM policy dictates.
