Hi, I am planning to upgrade Elasticsearch from 7.10 to 8.x. However I am not sure what will happen to multiple endpoints sending logs to ES using filebeat 7.10. Will I also need to upgrade the filebeat instances? Thank you. ---

Hi tegerei, The [support matrix](https://www.elastic.co/support/matrix) is the best place to check. Looking at the matrix I see that 7.10 beats are not compatible with 8.x versions of Elasticsearch so you will need to upgrade the filebeat as well. I advise checking out the upgrade guides for [Elasticsearch](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/setup-upgrade.html) and [Beats](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/libbeat/current/upgrading.html#upgrade-7-to-8).
