I tried to do docker-compose pull for the new images, but that didn't upgrade the pre-existing dockers.
is there a way to upgrade elk without deleting volumes and doing docker-compose up to create new containers?

The docker compose file uses persistence volume for data storage. You should not lose any data unless you explicitly delete them.

You should be able to just run `docker-compose down` to remove the existing containers (but not the volumes). Change the stack version, and run `docker-compose up` again to get the update.

The problem is that those volumes are in the conteiners and not on the server where I run the docker-compose commands.
So if I run `docker-compose down`, containers will be deleted and so I’ll lose them.
Please correct me if I’m wrong

No. The persistent volumes are created on the host. You can check their existence before and after you tear down the containers with `docker volume ls`.
