# Upgrade ES from 2.3.5 to 6.0/ 6.2

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to upgrade ES from 2.3.5 to 6.0 / 6.2.  
I have followed instruction as per the interactive guide on the elastic portal.

I am successfully able to upgrade from 2.3.5 to 5.6.7, i was successfully able to re-index the indices.

but when i migrate the newly reindex indices, they dont show up in 6.0 / 6.2 instance.  
any input will be higly appriciated.

Hello Everyone,  
I copied the config and data directories from the 5.6.7 to the 6.0.  
after starting ES 6.0, i dont see the indices.

any thoughts,

Hi All,

while starting ES 6.0/6.2 from command line, i get the following message  
[2018-02-28T14:44:10,806][INFO][o.e.g.GatewayService] [0IFoyuX] recovered  
[0] indices into cluster\_state.

highlighting that no index were recovered. while when i start ES 5.6 it says  
[2018-02-28T14:49:40,547][INFO][o.e.g.GatewayService] [poOQqu8] recovered  
[12] indices into cluster\_state

any pointers whey these indexes are not recovered in 6.0
