Hi I'm currently have filebeat version 1.1.1 (amd64) on ubuntu 12.04.

I installed the older version by this page [https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/current/filebeat-installation.html](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/filebeat/current/filebeat-installation.html)

I wonder if I need to uninstall the older version first then follow the same pages instruction?

If I need to uninstall the previous ones then how do I do it? It seems there's no info about uninstall and upgrade?

I will answer my own question now since I solved it.

I did the following command to remove old filebeat

dpkg -r filebeat

Then I follow the same link to download/install the new one.

You can just install the new package file, it'll replace the old package. You should add the Filebeat repository to your APT configuration so that you can upgrade via `apt-get upgrade`.
