# Upgrade from 5.2.1 to 5.4.1

Having a 2 node cluster I disabled the shard allocation, stoped one node, download elasticsearch-5.4.1 and installed it .

After starting up the node I get on the logs: [o.e.x.m.e.l.LocalExporter] waiting for elected master node [{ip-10.10.1.3}{xxxx}...] to setup local exporter [default\_local] (does it have x-pack installed?)

The master (5.2) still up and running but the updated node (5.4) can't connect. any ideas about how to fix this or do the proper upgrade?

Hey,

can you provide full logs in a gist? The above just seems to be an error message due to not finding a master node, but is not the cause of not being able to connect.

Hi, after the cluster became "green" the error went away, the node indeed was connected and sharding.
