# Upgrade from 5.3.1 to 6.8.23

Good day!

I have 3 nodes on 5.3.1 (index"es created in 5" version) and I need to upgrade to 6.8.23 without downtime.

My plan is 5.3.1 -\> 5.6.16, 5.6.16 -\> 6.8.23.

Can I upgrade according to this scheme?

5.3.1 + 5.3.1 + 5.3.1, join 5.6.16 node (I will have 5.3.1 + 5.3.1 + 5.3.1 + 5.6.16), await relocation  
remove one 5.3.1 (I will have 5.3.1 + 5.3.1 + 5.6.16), await green status  
add 5.6.16 (I will have 5.3.1 + 5.3.1 + 5.6.16 + 5.6.16), await relocation  
remove one 5.3.1 (I will have 5.3.1 + 5.6.16 + 5.6.16), await green status  
add 5.6.16 (I will have 5.3.1 + 5.6.16 + 5.6.16 + 5.6.16), await relocation  
remove one 5.3.1 (I will have 5.6.16 + 5.6.16 + 5.6.16), await green status

Next similar upgrade 5.6.16 -\> 6.8.23
