# Upgrade Logstash 6.4.2 to 6.6

I am planning to upgrade the elasticsearch cloud cluster to latest 6.6. I have logstash installed on ubuntu which is 6.4.2. Should I need to upgrade that as well.

@bharatchawla87, you would not be required to upgrade Logstash just to use Elasticsearch 6.6 as Logstash 6.4.2 is still compatible with it. Within the Elastic Stack, we avoid breaking compatibility among components within the same major release. In other words, any 6.x version of Logstash should work with any 6.x version of Elasticsearch.
