# Using current logged in username as dashboard filter

We are using xpack and trying to get logged username and pass it to the dashboard for filtering. We have read lots of documents and discussion topics on this site however we haven't find out a usable solution yet, but in [one of the documents](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/x-pack/current/field-and-document-access-control.html) we have seen that \_user.username parameter can be used to get the current username. Is there suggestion from anyone on how to use that parameter or solve this issue in some other way?

Unfortunately, this won't be possible in Kibana today without implementing a custom plugin.

Thank you Lukas. We have started to build a custom solution for our issue. I hope there will be a solution for this kind of needs in later releases.
