Folks, I want to get familiar with the full-text indexing abilities of ES against dynamoDB using a local dynamoDb instance. Is it possible to point ES at a local dynamoDB instance in this way?

Elasticsearch itself has no mechanism to pull data from an external datasource like DynamoDB. You would use an ingestion tool like [Logstash](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/logstash/current/getting-started-with-logstash.html) for that.

It seems that [AWS has made a plugin for Logstash available](https://github.com/awslabs/logstash-input-dynamodb) that allows you to sync data from DynamoDB in near-real time. You can find more information on that plugin's Github repository: [https://github.com/awslabs/logstash-input-dynamodb](https://github.com/awslabs/logstash-input-dynamodb)

Thanks Abdon, looks like logstash is the way to go
