Using multiple types for document tagging?

Hello,

I know one can do a query across multiple document types (_type stuff), but
can one assign multiple types to a single document? Think tagging
documents.
And if so, can one then use just 1 of those types or N of those types ORed
or ANDed?

Why not use a dedicate field for that, like tag?
