Hi

During Logstash 5.2.1 boot which uses kafka input, just noticed a few warnings:

```auto
log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (org.apache.kafka.clients.consumer.ConsumerConfig).
log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly.
log4j:WARN See http://logging.apache.org/log4j/1.2/faq.html#noconfig for more info.
```

I have found some similar issues:

> [@Fresh logstash 5.2 install gives log4j warnings and no logging from plugins](https://discuss.elastic.co/t/fresh-logstash-5-2-install-gives-log4j-warnings-and-no-logging-from-plugins/75530/5):

I did an uninstall and re-install just now to make sure my fiddling hadn't messed things up. Version 2.2.1 on Centos 6.7 I had to set MAX\_MAP\_COUNT= as I am running an a Parrallels VPS. I now get: Starting elasticsearch: log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (common). log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly. log4j:WARN See [http://logging.apache.org/…](http://logging.apache.org/log4j/1.2/faq.html#noconfig)

> Hey everyone Started to get that warning after upgrading to 0.9. Tried the usual configuration options to no avail (config pasted below). Any help would be appreciated.. To make sure that the paths are set I uncommented all the environment variables pertaining to logging and config paths .. cat /etc/sysconfig/elasticsearch ES\_PATH\_LOG=/var/log/elasticsearch ES\_PATH\_DATA=/var/lib/elasticsearch ES\_PATH\_WORK=/tmp/elasticsearch ES\_PATH\_CONF=/etc/elasticsearch ES\_CONFIG=/etc/elasticsearch/…

but it's still unclear for me how to avoid them.
Should I create a logging.yml file? may I add a runtime arg? Could I add some config on logstash.yml? Or in log4j2.properties?

I hope you could help me.
Regards

Bump!
