# What do "total\_stopped\_time/total\_throttled\_time/total\_auto\_throttle“ mean in index merge stats api?

I found these metric are slightly large

I read the [Doc](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/indices-stats.html) and google it but no one explain what's mean of them.  
Could you tell me what do these stats mean?  
Does these will slow down indexing speed?
