# What exactly does operations and size\_in\_bytes mean in translog section of node stats?

I was checking the document but there seems to be no explanation about _operations_ and _size\_in\_bytes_ for [translog](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/5.4/cluster-nodes-stats.html#cluster-nodes-stats) . I appreciate if someone can help me out.

1. Does the **operations** stands for total number of CRUD operations currently happening?
2. Does **size\_in\_bytes** stands for size of translog file?

`operations` is the number of operations in the shards transaction log. `size_in_bytes` is the size of the transaction log file on disk.
