# What is the use of internal verison\_type now that one should use seq\_no and primary\_term for Optimistic Concurrency Control?

Hi,
Why is internal version type still supported [here](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/docs-index_.html#index-version-types) The latest versions doesn't support this way of concurrency control anymore and one should use seq\_no and primary\_term right?

Got it know it was vestigial and will slowly be removed completely.
