Hi fellows,

I am reading the docs and found in Kibana API for roles it states

> **[Kibana role management APIs | Kibana Guide \[7.16\] | Elastic](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/kibana/7.16/role-management-api.html)**
>
> Kibana provides you with several options to share \*Discover\* saved searches, dashboards, \*Visualize Library\* visualizations, and \*Canvas\* workpads with others, or on a website.

**\> Do not use the [Elasticsearch role management APIs](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/7.16/security-api.html#security-role-apis) to manage Kibana roles.**

I could not find the difference and where these are stored in comparison to ES roles. I want to manage spaces, so I am wondering which ones to use.

Thanks!

Hello,

[Kibana role management | Kibana Guide [7.17] | Elastic](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/kibana/current/kibana-role-management.html) & [Kibana privileges | Kibana Guide [7.17] | Elastic](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/kibana/current/kibana-privileges.html)
should help you.

You can create a role, assign space privileges to it and associate an user with it to access the space.

Thanks,
