# Where to configure APM agent in application side

  I am new to APM. we are using Redhat JBoss to run the applications in separate node. Now where I need to configure agent and how? Any suggestions ......

Hi and thanks for checking out the Java agent!

Have you seen the [getting started docs](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/apm/agent/java/current/intro.html)? You can configure the agent with environment variables, system properties, and a property file. To attach the agent, you need to specify the `-javaagent` flag. Which version of JBoss are you using? I assume you are using JBoss EAP?

Thanks for your response @felixbarny. I think it will be helpful to me. For your question, Yes we are using JBoss EAP 6.4
