# Which node types need the Watcher plugin?

Hello all,
In a split role cluster, which node types need the Watcher plugin installed? Masters/Clients/Data, or some combination of the three?

Watcher and the license plugin need to be installed on all nodes. Otherwise on client nodes that don't have watcher installed, api calls will not be forwarded correctly.
