# Which role are the Beats clients supposed to use to connect to Elastic?

Is there already a built-in role for Beats clients in Elastic or does one need to be created?

Thanks Ioannis. Still a bit confused. Is monitoring data different from logs that are shipped?
The role beats\_system shows access to .monitoring-beats-\* but not filebeat-\*
So there isn't a built-in role for filebeat clients so they can write log data to elastic?
