Hi I m new to Elastic search. I looking into this if feasible as on premises - Install Elastic on a linux server (on premises) - Index our files located on windows server (on premises - same LAN) - search from a basic page page google style - integrate the same to our internal web based houde developped application. - be able to retrive the files images etc from the serch results - if possible have secrurity features to make sure user can only see search results of the files they are allowed to reach from windows server - ie if user no access to //DATA/SECRET/ folder seach results should not display the content of the //DATA/SECRET/ folder please if an expert can confirm if i m dreaming or not. then i ll dive in to find out how to make this happen Many thanks in advance ---

Have a look at [Elastic network drive connector reference | Enterprise Search documentation [8.15] | Elastic](https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/enterprise-search/current/connectors-network-drive.html). Alternatively you can use [FSCrawler](https://fscrawler.readthedocs.io). There's [a tutorial](https://fscrawler.readthedocs.io/en/latest/user/tutorial.html) to help you getting started. But it does not take care (yet) of ACLs.
