When using X-Pack to configure Logstash pipelines, an edit still needs to be made to the logstash.yml to enable the pipeline. This seems to negate the purpose of having centralized pipeline management if I still need to modify configurations on the filesystem and restart Logstash.

So my question is:

Is there anyway to solely manage pipelines from the X-Pack interface?

I've attempted using wildcards in the logstash.yml, but to no avail. I can't seem to find any documentation on what I'm attempting to do. If the answer is "NO", that's fine. I really just want to get a definitive answer.

Thanks!

At this stage, no.

I'm not aware of what may be coming that fully automates this, because I would also find it useful myself, but I think there is security concerns to be aware of - eg if someone decided to add an arbitrary config that started to exfiltrate your data.
