Filebeat - received an event - has different character encoding

Just seeing you using the wrong port in your original config:

output:
  logstash:
    hosts: ["192.168.1.149:5544"]

input {
        beats {
        port => 5044
        ...
     }
    tcp {
         port => 5544
      }
}

logstash output requires 'beats' plugin, not tcp. The tcp one will try to interpret the binary protocol as UTF-8 which makes no sense.
