Hello There,
I was wondering if you could help me please. I have been trying to compile and run the example lsbeat and heartbeat from the source code. I have followed the lsbeat blog and various other documents i could find but i am not really making a lot of progress. I was wondering if there was a step-by-step beginners guide to creating a beat please ?

You've probably already looked at this, but in case you haven't, here's the official Beats developer guide: https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/beats/devguide/current/new-beat.html.
Could you try stepping through that and reporting back with where things break down for you, with some details as well?
