Dec 11th, 2020: [EN] This holiday season, learn new Elastic skills for free

Elastic has a lot of different products across multiple solutions. We make it as easy as possible for our users to benefit from our solutions, but it is still hard to master so many topics. To address that, Elastic invests a lot in creating the best possible content. And even though we create them in many formats, such as docs, blogs, webinars, ElasticON presentations, and training, it can still be daunting to learn so many different concepts. In this blog we will help you make the most of your holiday season by learning new skills.

One type of content we have been heavily working on in the last months is the "Quick Starts". Our quick start guides were created to have you in your own Elastic Cloud cluster exploring data sets in less than 15 minutes. In this blog, I will detail the current quick start guides we offer, so you can choose which ones you want to learn. Each quick start guide is a set of three 5-minute videos covering a specific topic (e.g. logging). Throughout those 3 videos we cover three key steps to be successful with Elastic:

  1. What is the topic and why is it important?
  2. How to ingest that data?
  3. How to make sense of that data?

In the quick start guides, we answer these questions with demos that you can follow and later you can share your results with your friends and co-workers. All the content is free and can be watched in our website. Let's take a look at the different quick start guides we have.

Logging

In the logging quick start, you’ll learn how to ingest, view, and analyze custom logs from your applications using Elastic Cloud.

  • What is a log and how the log format is important (both common and unique formats)?
  • Create your Elastic Cloud deployment, add some sample data and visualize it using the Logs app.
  • Stream system logs to your Elastic Cloud deployment and visualize them
  • Use Elastic to easily make sense of your unstructured logs, by first structuring and, then, analyzing them.

Metrics

In the metrics quick start, you’ll learn how to stream, visualize, and analyze metrics using Elastic Cloud.

  • What are metrics and why are they paramount in observability?
  • Create your Elastic Cloud deployment and stream system metrics
  • Analyze your metrics in different ways with dashboards and the Metrics app

APM

In the APM quick start, you'll learn how to stream, view, and analyze APM traces from your applications using Elastic Cloud.

  • Why is APM so important to observability and what are traces?
  • Create your Elastic Cloud deployment and instrument your application to stream APM data
  • Visualize your application’s performance using service maps and more

Combining logs, metrics and APM traces is a critical piece in creating unified observability of your ecosystem.

User Experience Monitoring

In this user experience monitoring quick start, you’ll learn how to monitor and gauge user experience — including Core Web Vitals — in real time.

  • What is user experience monitoring?
  • Instrument an application to ingest user data
  • Explore the User Experience app to discover how your users are experiencing your website.

Workplace Search

In the Workplace Search quick start, you’ll learn how Elastic Workplace Search unifies diverse content platforms, such as Google Drive or Salesforce, into a personalized search experience that makes all your teams' content findable with an intuitive interface.

  • What are Elastic Enterprise Search and Elastic Workplace Search?
  • Create your Elastic Cloud deployment and synchronize a custom source and Google Drive data to Workplace Search
  • Use a single interface to perform unified search through all sources
  • Optimize the search experience for different members of your organization

App Search

In the App Search quick start, you’ll learn how Elastic App Search provides a simple yet powerful tool for adding rich search experiences to your websites and apps.

  • What are Elastic Enterprise Search and Elastic App Search?
  • Create your Elastic Cloud deployment and use different techniques to index data into Elastic App Search
  • Understand and update your data schema
  • Tune relevance, analyze incoming queries, and fine-tune it by setting up synonyms and curation

Security

In the security quick start, you'll learn how to configure your endpoints with Elastic Security so you can stream, detect, and visualize threats in real time on Elastic Cloud.

  • What makes up Elastic Security
  • Create your Elastic Cloud deployment, install the Elastic Agent and enable Elastic Endpoint Security
  • Enable detection rules and streaming data to Elastic Security
  • Trigger a detection, start a case, and navigate through the Security app
