Elastic Output plugin fetch status of connectivity

Hi,

I was looking at way to fetch the status of elastic connectivity from logstash output plugin. Is there an API or any other mechanism to fetch the same?

I am basically interested in outputting the status periodically to a file about connection check with respect to elastic from logstash.

Please advice on how to solve his.
