I have a password with ! and @ chars and for the life of me I cannot get it to connect to xpack for monitoring. I keep getting 401.

Ok it seems that ! doesn't work. This is for the XPACK_MONITORING_ELASTICSEARCH_PASSWORD environment variable.
The rest of the cluster works fine with !
Also the elastic output plugin seems to be ok according to the logs.
I will check the code.
