Hi Team,

I have logstash on two servers. It seems its working as index are getting created and logstash service is running from few days but whenever i checked logstash syntax, it shows below error. Is there anything wrong with the setup which i should correct?

Below is the error,

Can someone point out, where is the issue?

Thanks,

You say logstash is running. You cannot start a second instance with the same configuration because it will try to bind to port 5044 (not for long, but it needs to get through plugin registration to ensure the configuration is valid).

Hi @Badger,

Thanks for prompt reply.

Can you please add more details. Where do you see I have second instance running?

I have two logstash running on two different servers but both servers will have same logstash.ym and /etc/logstash/conf.d/logstash.conf right?

Did not get your point.

Thanks,

The log error you shared says that something in your service is already using the 5044 port.

The other log error you shared says that you already have another Logstash instance running:

Hi @leandrojmp,

Thanks for reply.

I have already checked but didnt find any other process (other than logstash) using port 5044.

Thanks,

I think the issue was, logstash was already running through systemd i.e logstash rpm was installed and i was using below command to check the syntax of pipeline config file which was actually starting logstash manually from command line and hence output of this command was showing logstash is already running, address already in use etc..

Correct this if understanding is wrong.

 /usr/share/logstash/bin/logstash -f --config.test_and_exit -f /etc/logstash/conf.d/logstash.conf --path.settings /etc/logstash/ --path.data /elk/lib/logstash/

The correct command to check this is and its showing validation ok.

# /usr/share/logstash/bin/logstash -t --config.test_and_exit --path.settings /etc/logstash/
