Metricbeat vs Topbeat

Reading through the Metricbeat alpha, can someone summarize the differences between Topbeat and the Metricbeat System Module?

Would you use them both on one system or not? If they both provide the same/similar feature sets, why maintain both?

Is there a situation where one would be the preferred option over the other?
