How many hearbeat instances should I have running to monitoring 40-60 services? All services running in one network. How to setup hearbeats in failover mode? Does exist something?

40-60 is something a single heartbeat can easily handle.
We don't directly have a notion of failover, but you could just configure two heartbeats with the same config on different machines. If one goes down you'll still have the uptime data from the other.
