Pushing flush onto pipeline pipeline

Hello,

What does "pushing flush onto pipeline pipeline" mean in Logstash. I was running a Logstash instance in Debug Mode and saw that all my documents had been processed and shipped by Logstash, but kept getting the <<<Pushing flush onto pipeline {:level=>:debug, :file=>"logstash/pipeline.rb", :line=>"458", :method=>"flush"}>>> message. I am not understanding what "flush" it is pushing if Logstash was done processing all the files. Is it just an empty push since there were no more files to process?
