I read the thread about java agent attach dated July. The last comment there was that someone(I guess from Elastic) is making an update on the java-agent-attach that will allow detaching. Is that possible now? If so, how is it done?
There is a work-in-progress, currently in the POC stage, of making a major change in the agent that will eventually allow "hot-update" and detach as well, but not something in the immediate future.
Once it is done, we will document what it means.
We already have the active switch, maybe it can serve what you are looking for until then.
