APM custom metrics from node.js app

Hi

I would like to use elastic-apm-node to send custom metrics (ex. WebSocket connection count) to APM server. But I cannot find agent API to support it.

Or should I use other elastic cloud service?

Using elastic cloud service & node.js app.
