Automatic dashboards are not getting created when I change index name in filebeat.yml

Hii.I am ingesting netflow data using filebeat netflow module.I have configured "filebeat.yml" file for automatic creation of dashboards.Filebeat creates index with name "filebeat-*" and it also creates dashboards automatically. But I want to store this netflow data in different index. For this I have configured settings in "filebeat.yml" but it is only creating index and storing netflow data in that index. It is not creating automatic dashboards in kibana for my netflow data. How can I solve this issue?

This is the configuration file of "filebeat.yml":-

Hello @Husnain, the dashboards are most likely configured to use the filebeat-* pattern, so if you are planning on changing the pattern the dashboards might not show all the information that is available, and you would need to modify it to fit your index pattern.

If you are not getting any dashboards at all, after you have configured both Elasticsearch and Kibana outputs, I would suggest you try running

filebeat setup --dashboards

Hello @Marius_Iversen.Thanx for the reply. This means that we cannot get automatic dashboards for different index pattern. We can only get automatic dashboards for filebeat-* pattern, isn't it?

The dashboards are installed during filebeat setup, so they are never automatic in that sense, and they are not related to if you have a custom index pattern or not exactly, the issue is that dashboards and visualizations are configured to look for data in a specific pattern, and if you have a custom pattern you might need to modify the dashboards to work with those patterns.

The easiest is to start your custom pattern with filebeat-CUSTOMPATTERN, that way the built-in index patterns would still work

Thanx @Marius_Iversen for your reply.I will try this and I will come back to you.How can I modify the dashboards to work with custom pattern. Can you share me the link of that setting?

I would recommend clicking around Kibana dashboards in edit mode (there should be a edit button when you click on a dashboard) to get used to it a bit, once you know the basics of Kibana visualizations then It should all make sense.

Some things to get you started though: Dashboard | Kibana Guide [7.12] | Elastic

During covid alot of our training material is also available for free: Free on-demand Elasticsearch and Kibana training | Elastic Training

There is for example Kibana fundamentals in the above link

Thanx Alot @Marius_Iversen for your help.I will try all this things and I will come back to you.
