Big mapping and few fields on index

Hello folks!
A question about index template, because Im creating a template for many indexs and not in alls indexs, all fields available in template are used. In some case less than ten, and in template are available almost 1000.

Have a big index mapping with few fields really used in index could be a performance issue ?

If you have the fields defined in the template but they are not used in the indexed document, then no it's not a major concern.
