Can Elastic store data on multiple file systems?

Hi everyone!
I got a question from a client and I didn't found any clear answer for:
Can elastic store data on multiple file systems?
If I have a linux machine with multiple file systems, can I configure elastic you use more than one for storage? If I can, will it hurt the indexing/quering preformance?
