Hi，anybody.

Question: Can increase Primary Shard Count of an existing index in Elasticsearch 8.2.3?

Request：Search and indexing will all can work during the change，and if change fails, it can be rolled back smoothly without losing data.

Are there any solutions ? simple and reliable to do.

It is not possible to change the number of primary shards for an existing index. You can use the split index API, but this will create a new copy of the index with a higher primary shard count so is not seamless and require downtime.
